Overview

LTC Magic is a macOS app for stamping Broadcast WAV start timecode from LTC and rebuilding DaVinci Resolve timelines as FCPXML. Open a tool from Overview, give it the files it asks for, and write the result to a separate folder.

For a first test, use a small copy of a real recording. Keep the original media unchanged, select the relevant source files, confirm the frame rate and LTC channel, then inspect the validation or report screen before handing anything off.

Use Timecode Stamping to stamp WAVs with LTC timecode, LTC Cut Splitter to split at timecode discontinuities, PolyWAV Splitter to write separate mono files, and Timeline Builder to build an FCPXML timeline from audio, or Burnt-in Timecode when the timecode is already visible on a picture. It does not edit the picture or the music. It writes the timecode metadata, the split WAVs, or the FCPXML, and you check that result in the app that will use it.

Start from the files you have

  1. Open Overview and pick one tool. They are not steps in a single job.
  2. WAVs that need a start timecode: Timecode Stamping. Set the LTC channel and the frame rate, then Stamp WAVs.
  3. An LTC recording that jumps: LTC Cut Splitter. Preview Segments, then Split at cuts.
  4. One multichannel WAV: PolyWAV Splitter. Split channels writes one mono WAV per channel.
  5. A Resolve timeline plus audio: Timeline Builder. Add the Timeline XML or AAF, the Stereo mix WAV, and Scan and continue.
  6. A picture with timecode on screen: Burnt-in Timecode. Draw the box, check the readout, then Scan and Write timeline.
  7. Read the CSV report or the build report, and open the result in the app that will use it.

Write new files to their own folder. Timecode Stamping is the tool that changes bext and iXML inside the WAV you give it.
