Working Safely with Original Audio

Keep the recordings you were given in their own folder. Point every tool at a different folder for anything new.

What each tool writes:

• Timecode Stamping changes bext and iXML inside the WAV. The audio samples are not rewritten. If you need the file untouched, stamp a copy.
• LTC Cut Splitter and PolyWAV Splitter write new WAV files. They do not modify the source.
• Timeline Builder and Burnt-in Timecode write an FCPXML file and a build report. They do not copy the picture or the camera media.

There is no sidecar option and no choice that copies the rushes. A backup matters most before Timecode Stamping, because that is the tool that edits metadata in the file you give it.
